Verizon shuts down TAP - Paging system interface

12/2/2015

Verizon USA has ceased support for TAP, the paging system protocol used by a number of our customers in the USA to send Alarms to pagers and cellphones, and shut the system down last week.  Abbey Systems has an alternative Powerlink email module which has been popular and can be added to Powerlink SCADA Systems, so that Alarms can still be sent to cellphones.  It uses your Carrier's SMS Gateway to convert the email to an outgoing SMS message which is then sent it to the appropriate user.   One benefit of using email is that Alarms can also be acknowledged by the receiver preventing any programmed escalation.

For pricing & availability please contact our US Office or your US Distributor for more details.
