We are happy to report that a number of our customers are now running Powerlink Telemetry Server in a range of virtualised environments including Oracle Virtualbox and VMware ESX. There are no known limitations to running PL in a virtualised environment and no changes need to be made to support it, so all existing builds should work just fine.  You will need to arrange remote com ports if you want to use a System Controller or GSM modem in your virtualised environment.  One customer has achieved this using moxa nport units, and we have had success with usb serial adapters in conjunction with usb passthrough mode.

Citrix XenApp enables IT to centralize and manage a single instance of each application in the data center and deliver it to users through any media device. Citrix is used by many customers including Power companies and Councils.  Abbey Systems advises that Aspex HMI has now been successfully integrated and deployed in the Citrix XenApp environment for a local District Council.  Aspex, being light yet powerful, once deployed over the Citrix user group was able to connect to Powerlink Telemetry Server over the Intranet and display real time and historic data and trends for the user.
